Austral Celebrates At 2013 WAFIC Awards

Last night the Western Australian Fishing Industry Council held their biennial WA Seafood Industry Awards ceremony at Incontro restaurant in South Perth.  Over 200 guests were spoilt by the quality of service and local food delivered by Peter Manifis and his team.

Austral Fisheries was well represented, winning awards in 2 categories:

  • The 2013 Seafood Industry Promotion Award, which was presented to an entity that has demonstrated excellence in developing and undertaking a promotional activity that has contributed substantially towards improving the public profile of seafood or the seafood industry.  The promotional activities that we were recognised for was the the development behind Glacier 51 Toothfish, our premium quality, MSC certified, wild caught  Australian white fish fillet; our work with Woolworths and their media team in promoting our MSC certified banana prawns from the Northern Prawn Fishery; and finally our  advertisements in the Weekend Australian Magazine publicly showcasing different parts of our operation over the last 12 months.
  • Also, up and comer, John Cordin from our Seafood Trading Division, received the 2013 Young Achievers Award.  John is also part of the 2013 National Seafood Industry Leadership Program and will next week be moving to Melbourne to set up a new office for our Seafood Trading team.

We would like to thank our supporters, customers and our crews at sea who without their help, achievements like these would not be possible.
